Wipro's Highest Paid Executive Martha Helena Replaced

Bangalore: According to sources close to the latest development at Wipro, the tech giant has replaced its highest paid executive Martha Helena Bejar with one of the company’s most experienced person Pinaki Kar, to lead its U.S. subsidiary Infocrossing, reports Shruti Sabharwal & Pankaj Mishra from The Economic Times.

Martha had joined Wipro in July 2009 and led the company’s global sales and operations. After Wipro started its restructuring exercise in the year 2011, Martha was appointed as the Chairman and CEO of Wipro Infocrossing. She was also one of the members of Wipro’s corporate executive council and she had got the credit for being the only women to occupy the senior post in the company. She also became the highest paid executive with an annual salary of 5.5 Crore last year.

According to the report, a senior executive of the company told that this move of replacement was taken with the broader direction to consolidate Infocrossing as part of Wipro’s global infrastructure management business and that Martha will be working till January 15.

Martha had served Microsoft as the Corporate Vice-President for the multi-billion dollar communication business before she joined Wipro’s U.S. subsidiary Infocrossing. Before joining Microsoft, she had served as the President for the telecommunication giant Nortel Network, of its Caribbean and Latin American regions with sales, operations and marketing responsibilities.

The new Executive of Infocrossing, Pinaki Kar is the business head for the Gulf and African markets at Wipro. He has been associated with the company since 12 years and before becoming the business head, he was part of the strategy and mergers and acquisitions team of the company.

Infocrossing will now be moving into the larger global technology infrastructure management services division and it will be headed by Anand Sankaran, the Senior Vice President and Business Head of India, Middle East and Africa business of Wipro. As of Wipro’s earlier plans, the company had decided to sell a part of Infocrossing but has not been able to find a buyer and dropped the plan later.
