Why 9-to-5 Working Hours Will Become a Thing Of The Past
Bangalore: Embrace the fact that 8 hour workday is a relic of the past. Though 8 hours shift makes sense for labor intense workers in the manufacturing sectors, it can be a pain for information workers, as it doesn’t take into account the mental energy cycle and other productivity consideration.
The task of a factory worker is basically physical and requires little or no analytical thinking. But in the case of the modern information worker, nearly every task demands creative or strategic thinking that exploits all the creative juices of the brain and drains the energy reserves almost instantly. The only way to recharge is to give appropriate rest or break during the work hours. But unfortunately, the 8-hours shift doesn’t incorporate any rest periods between work and also fails to take into consideration the ways in which employees carry out their respective job and the drastically difference in productive levels as per the energy level of an individual.
Here are few reasons for ditching the 8-hours workday and thinking in terms of productivity rather than the time constrains, as reported by Ritika Trika of Career Bliss.
