Bangalore: Companies require real return on their investment, hence they are always in search of people with right combination of talent and skill. Very often you must have encountered questions like what tech skills are the companies looking for? Do I have it?
The market has been recovering from the deadly blow of recession and IT salaries have gone up after almost two years of decline. And the good news is that companies too are on a hiring spree. Hiring recorded an overall increase of 6.1 percent in the past three months, and a 46.2 percent increase over the past year.
The available tech jobs in the market are 68,026, out of which full time positions are 42,954. And in that contract position is 29,476 and part time is 1,378.
The following interesting facts can throw some light on the upcoming demand of tech skills.
There is an increased demand for skills in Facebook and Twitter.
Demand for Hadoop knowledge grew slower than other NoSQL related technologies. However, there were still more Hadoop jobs than there were jobs in every other NoSQL technology combined. Also, traditional RDBMS technologies are still the most popular, with the most jobs and strong growth.
Demand for Oracle eBusiness Suite skills dipped. Skills on Oracle's database, unsurprisingly, remained strong. SAP hiring experienced the most growth in the applications area in the past three months, followed by PeopleSoft.
Silverlight overtook Flash. Silverlight jobs experienced 12.6% growth in the past three months, while Flash experienced just 2.2percent. Silverlight also surpassed Flash in total number of jobs, with 982 job listings for Silverlight and 646 for Flash.
Demand for iPad skills decreased by 3.5percent. However, iOS demand increased by 24.9percent. Moore didn't tracked Macintosh or OSX demand in the past so he couldn't make a comparison.
Android had 1,019 jobs, which beat iOS' 832 jobs. But iOS is growing faster, at a rate of 24.9% to Android's 19.8percent.
Azure was the fastest growing platform, with 80.7% growth. But it still trailed Amazon in total number of jobs 1,019 to 103.
Telecommunications experienced 2,959 job postings for technology professionals with certain skills.
The cloud computing space now occupies a substantial space and the future of hiring looks good. Though this is just the starting days for cloud computing, it has opened new avenues for people looking out for job in the booming cloud computing industry with 1300 job postings. And this lifts the demand for language like java script and HTML.
Information Security is a dream job for every aspirant. Candidates with Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) programme have an edge over others.
Virtualization has witnessed high growth in the recent times. Vmware opened nearly 92 percent of its job postings.
The four core areas to be looked on are database, applications, languages and platforms. The five programming languages with the top growth in the past three months were HTML5 with 45.2 percent and SAP Sybase PowerBuilder with 26.0 percent. Ruby is at 15.8 percent and Python recorded 15.8 percent. Last but not the least Silver light saw 12.6 percent.
The top languages, by total number of jobs, were Java with 16,152 jobs, HTML at 9,736 jobs, XML 9,651, JavaScript with 9,618 and C# with 7,940.
