Unisys announces winners of cloud 20/20 version 2.0

Bangalore: Unisys India, provider of portfolio of IT services, software and technology today announced the winners of Cloud 20/20 Version 2.0, an online technical paper contest. In its second year, the contest saw the participation go up to 2300 students, almost the double of last year. Students from 1000 educational institutes participated in the contest. The contest was designed to encourage innovative ideas and recognize technical talent from amongst the country's leading engineering colleges including Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), National Institute of Technology (NITs), International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bangalore and Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS), Pilani. Students came up with multiple ideas like automation for cloud computing, virtualization for servers, storage and networks, application development for the cloud and security issues in the cloud. Participants had to go through several rigorous rounds of evaluation including face-to-face interviews and final presentations. Jai Bhatt from Nirma University, Gandhinagar won the first Prize for his entry on Application Development for the cloud and became the proud owner of Apple MacBook Air laptop. Saloni Maru from PESIT, Bangalore emerged as first runner-up and won Apple iPad for entry on Application Development for the cloud. Second runner-up Ravjot Singh from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology won a Samsung Wave 2 for his paper on Application Development for the cloud. Unisys will also be offering the internship opportunities to the three winners. "The quality of abstracts we have received this time is extraordinary. The winning papers present fresh ideas and perspectives that can make major contributions to advancing cloud computing," said Bob Supnik, Vice-President, Engineering and Supply Chain, Unisys Technology, Consulting and Integration Solutions. Unisys will announce the contest results tomorrow in the presence of Ashok Soota, Executive Chairman, Mindtree, Tim Poston, Mathematician and Chief Scientist at Therataxis (USA) and Chief Scientist at Nordic River AB (Sweden), Vibhav Balaram, Founder and CEO, Cloudbyte and Kishore Mandayam, CEO, ImpelCRM. Unisys is also planning to launch Unisys Technology Forum to further strengthen their association with academics.
