Top 5 Indian IT majors on a hiring spree
Chennai: The year 2010-11 has turned out to be a decade of selective hiring by the big IT giants. An incredible figure of 1,14,038 was registered by the top 5 IT companies from the quarter March 31, 2010 to December 31, 2010, as compared to 47,462 additions in the previous year. And if speculations are to be believed then the numbers are yet to rise even more in coming years. This phenomenon shows how the phase of recession is fading away with time, and companies strengthening their base furthermore. IT companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL and Cognizant are far away from the recession monster and are on a huge hiring stride. TCS which recorded a figure of 19,311 a year ago had made net additions of 37,260 in December 2010. Infosys on the other hand registered an increase of 6,804 to 17,897. The net addition of Wipro was from 3,977 in 2009 to 16,745 in 2010. Cognizant saw a net addition from 16,700 in 2009 to 25,557 in 2010. Similarly HCL recorded an increase from 670 to 16,579. This increase in net additions is the outcome of the improved conditions of market. The companies are very optimistic about there future prospects and growth. The recession in 2008 has left the job market and hiring capability even more challenging. The IT players were going through worst phase of there time. Recruitment was stop vehemently. The mostly hit were the freshers.
