Tirupur, the Best City for Jobseekers

BENGALURU: India has always been referred to as the land of having the maximum employment rate. However, in the past few years, India has experienced a drastic fall in the rate of unemployment. Tirupur plays a vital in the upgrading the statistics by such a massive rate. Tirupur being one of the biggest textile and hosiery centers of Tamil Nadu, India, tops the employment table among 506 cities and towns, having 44 percent of its population reported as regularly employed.

Next in the list is West Bengali in terms of urban employment, revealed the Census data, which covers 506 towns and cities. Most of the towns of the WB state have the highest number of jobseekers compared to all the cities and towns in the country. The share of jobseekers in the total population is between the age of 20 and 25 in these places.

The bottom of the Census data is for the several western Indian towns stretching from Gujarat to Maharashtra, most of them industrial hubs and magnets to migrants from rural hinterlands. This group of Jobseekers includes those who are doing some irregular work and seek regular work, or are completely unemployed workers.

The group of unemployed works is driven by a very high share of women not working. Considering the several north Indian towns, it’s seen that over 90 percent of women are left jobless, and home and bringing up children is the job allotted to them. However, it’s in these places, a substantial number of women are reported as eligible for work. This being the reason indicating the growing need and desire to find work although actual availability is a different story altogether.
