Tech Jobs: Why Not A Woman's Cup Of Tea?
BANGALORE: The number of gadgets and gizmos piled up in a man’s room is always greater than that you find in a woman’s room. A husband is always expected to use a technologically better phone than that of his wife. The idea that men are more positive than woman in the technology ladder is a common stereotype.
When it comes to the use of social media or making purchase decisions related to tech products, the scenario is just different. In using the interactive medium of social media or blogging, sharing pictures or downloading movies or songs – women tend to lead the crowd.
A study of why women are falling far in the technology battle with men by Economic Times investigates this phenomenon:

Often gender biased comments like ‘women like shopping’ or ‘men like sports’ annoy us. Then why don’t we react when such comments are made around us? ‘Sex’ of a human being determines his biological composition like genes, hormones or appearances. However the word is also used to determine the behavioral patterns, cultural expectations or learned characteristics of a human being. It is the latter function of the term ‘sex’ that hinders women in spending more time with computers, phones, and wires over household work. Hence, at the base level an obvious obstacle is created that hampers the affinity between women and technology.
