Tata Tech plans to hire 400 engineers in U.S. by the year end

Detroit: Tata Technologies, a subsidiary of India's Tata Motors is all set to take on 400 engineers at its technical center near Detroit by the end of this year. The purpose behind the move is to help with projects for car makers in North America. According to Dan Saad, Tata Technologies Director of Communications in North America, the company is looking for candidates with engineering, design and experience in product lifecycle. "The positions are at automotive client sites - about 80 percent in metro Detroit, about 20 percent elsewhere in the U.S. We have about 500 employees in the U.S. now, and about 350 are assigned to the company's Novi, Michigan", Saad said. Founded in 1989, Tata Technologies is a global leader in Engineering Services Outsourcing, Product Development and IT services to the global manufacturing industry. It is headquartered in Singapore and has regional headquarters offices in the United States in Novi, Pune, India and Luxton in the United Kingdom. Tata Group has reported 2008-09 revenues of 70 billion dollars, of which 61 percent is from business outside India. The group employs more than 350,000 people worldwide. Apart from Tata, General Motors Corp is also planning to hire 1,000 engineers over the next two years. Chrysler is planning to hire additional personnel to handle engineering projects and to help the company prepare for an initial public offering of stock in the second half of 2011. It has already added 1,000 employees at its technical center in Auburn Hills.
