Students Bet On Secure Jobs, Not Satiating Careers
BANGALORE: Time has come where competition is cut-throat in the job market, which has compelled the college goers to take up any job coming their way irrespective of what their interests lies in. The students these days look for a stable job instead of pursuing their passions.
Adecco Staffing, U.S., provides hiring and workforce solutions, and has recently come up with a study that states that 70 percent of the college goers would preferably go for a secure job that doesn’t meet their job satisfaction level instead of a job that connects them to their passions without any job security.
Most of the surveyed students would rather earn a substantial sum of money for a backing than choose an emotionally-content job. Attaining financial stability is the first concern for most of them. The research unveiled that 31 percent students wish to seek a financially sound future in comparison to 28 percent of the students who desire to land a job pursuing their passions and dreams.
Joyce Russell, president of Adecco Staffing, said, "An emerging trend we're seeing is that students, particularly the older ones, who feel or witness the impact of the recession are more likely to prioritize career growth and stability in their job search."
"The data shows us that these students are willing to make mature decisions, like pursuing financial stability over passion and focusing on long-term goals as a way to ensure their future." he added.
In addition to this, the research revealed that 36 percent of the surveyed students also want their jobs to offer substantial prospects of career growth, and a friendly environment at the workplace. The research concluded that the young job seekers are aware of the requirements of the employers in today’s job market. The students prioritize emotional intelligence quotient over technical skills.
The study was carried out on 1,001 U.S. college students who graduated recently.
