Steve Jobs makes into B-School Curriculums
Bangalore: Though Steve Jobs is no more, he will always remain the guru of modern technology. His entrepreneur skills and his managerial skills have now become the part of B-Schools. A B-School in Bangalore has started exploring the managerial skills that made Steve Jobs ‘best CEO of the decade’.
Institute of Finance and International Management (IFIM) in Electronic City, Bangalore, has introduced Steve Jobs as part of their curriculum, reports The Times of India.
In their new curriculum, the management students will be studying about the life and works of Jobs in detail in semester four as a part of their topic on leadership. Earlier the institute had also introduced a topic on Indian cricketer M S Dhoni as part of their curriculum.
The students will be studying on the qualities that made Steve Jobs an iconic businessman who succeeded in transforming the lifestyle of people around the world with human technology interaction. Shaji Kurien, Assistant Professor at IFIM told that everything in business comes down to the product. Breakthrough innovation requires creativity, and creativity requires that we think differently. Steve Jobs constantly tried to explore and innovate.
The night before the opening of the first Apple store, Jobs replaced all the tiles as he did not like its look. This showed his concern to perfectionism and it must have made him a real micro manager. Another example for his perfectionism was that, before the launch of iPod, he had all the headphone jacks replaced.
Steve Jobs and Apple not only created a great Apple community, but Steve himself was a great brand fanatic. His customer orientation was different as he had been very effective at putting himself in the consumer’s shoes, but he was not afraid to decide what the consumer actually needed.
