Software Engineers Emerge As New Power Class: Study

Chef’s survey further revealed that on an average software developer plan to stay at his or her current company for nine years. 70 percent of developers say they plan to stay at their current company for five years or more and 25 percent plan to stay for more than 10 years respectively. In addition to this, nearly half of them that is about 49 percent of the developers plan to be at their current job for more than 6 years.
Comparing with other professions, software developer enjoys more job satisfaction and to justify that 82 percent of them reported they are very much satisfied with their jobs than their friends who are in other fields.

When it came to economic power, the data showed that more than two-thirds (69 percent) of developers describe their profession as “recession-proof.” And with each rising value in the workplace, 66 percent expect to get a hike in the next 12 months, and more than half 56 percent believe they will become a millionaire at some point of time.

When you take knowledge into consideration the data revealed that 71 percent of developers participated in political and civic activities in the last 12 months. Other important factor was empowerment and on this topic the developers feel valued and empowered by their companies in their profession.
