Software Engineering ranked best job in U.S.

Washington: CareerCast.com conducted a Jobs Rated Methodology Study, 2011, which looks at factors like environment, income, hiring outlook, stress and physical demands. Considering these factors Software Engineering ranked as the best job in the U.S. The two main factors that Software Engineering won was the emergence of web applications and cloud computing. Companies create applications for samrtphones and tablets, along with the development of cloud software which is entirely used online. This has resulted in the growth of engineers along with shear competitiveness. According to the survey, software engineers have got a boost in their average salary with low work-related stress and a great outlook for employment. The study placed a variety of tech jobs, in the top 30 best careers of the year. Among them that made it to the list were computer systems analyst, technical writer and computer programmer. The survey aimed at looking for skills not only with numbers but also a strong knowledge of computers. Tony Lee, publisher of the report says if the worst job was ranked solely on salary and not on any physical work then a dishwasher would have been at the bottom of the list since there is no physical activity involved. But when other factors like stress, environment and hiring outlook are involved, the income becomes secondary.
