Social Media Over Salary, What Do You Choose?

Cisco had conducted this survey along with InsightExpress on 200 college students and young professionals in 14 countries. It was really surprising that most of them prioritized social media accessibility, device flexibility and work mobility over the salary, before accepting the job offer. Around 40 percent of them surveyed, responded that they were ready to take on a lower-paying job, that was ready to offer them with device flexibility and social media accessing during the working hours. About 56 percent were of the opinion that, if at all their job blocked access to social sites, they would not accept the offer or else they would join the company and find ways to get away with such kind of policy.

Julie Feinerman, Editor in WetFeet, expressed her opinion after looking into the shift of priorities in the workplace. She suggested the job seekers to enquire about the below listed areas before accepting a job offer:

1. Enquire about the Company’s flexibility:

Ask about whether the company is flexible when it comes to workplace mobility. Check whether you can get added benefits even if the salary is a bit lower than what you had expected. If you think your travel charges to the workplace are a bit high every month, discuss it with the concerned authority whether you can work from home.
