Resume Fraud Highest In Surat; India Ranks 4th in Asia Pacific: Report

BENGALURU: HireRight, a user friendly background checking service released a background Check Report of India based on employment screenings conducted between April to June 2015. The report reveals that 30 out 10 or 22.5pct employee screenings in the country contain a lie or discrepancy, reports Economic Times.

Differences are generally showcased in case of employment history, educational background or professional licenses. Between the years 2014-15, the country witnessed hype in employment but sadly the ratio of inaccuracies portrayed rose as well.

Data of HireRight who conducted check service on 23,539 candidates this year shows 22.55 pct of them had a falsehood involved in their career history.

Between January to March 2015 the discrepancy count reduced to 16.3pct.

Among the three heads of employment, education, and professional licenses, academics had highest inconsistencies involved to almost 40.80pct.  This is followed by professional discrepancy at 8.82pct in India.

India ranks 4th in case of frauds in resume, when compared to the rest of Asia Pacific.

Malayasia tops the list with 25pct discrepancy, followed by Singapore at 24.45pct and Philippines at 24.24pct.

Within the country, Surat tops the city list, followed by Mumbai and Ahmedabad at 68.09pct, 53pct and 51.41pct respectively.

Cities that have least discrepancy include Kochi with 25pct, Patna with 21.43pct and Jaipur at 10.24pct.
