BENGALURU: The improving economy and the government initiatives such as Digital India is driving demand for management services. Consulting firms are now in a mist of selecting fresh graduates from Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) from across the country this year, according to economictimes.com.
Many IIM locations across the country like Kashipur, Trichy, Udaipur, Rohtak and Shillong, have been offered recruitments from Deloitte, Cognizant and The Boston Consulting Group consultancies. This year alone the recruitment process is up by 50 percent with offers as much as 30 percent hike in salaries for entry-level positions. Most importantly the Consultancies are largely focusing on cities like Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata for their recruitments at IIMs.
“While continuing to drive down costs in core operations, clients are also shifting towards digital in order to remain competitive. This trend is creating significant opportunities for B-school graduates," states Gopalan, VP for consulting at Cognizant.
Typically big consulting firms are paying anywhere around 20-30 lakh as an annual package to B-school talent at the entry level. IIM-Bangalore has just picked 30 pct of the overall 409-strong 2014-16 and at IIM-Ahmedabad, Accenture Strategy was the biggest recruiter across clusters with 18 offers.
For IIM-Lucknow and IIM-Calcutta, the percentage of students who received offers from consulting firms remained at 21 pct and at MDI Gurgaon, 22 pct of the total offers were from consulting firms which is a slight increase from last year’s recruiting statistics.
