Rakesh Mohan to be McKinsey's global adviser

Bangalore: Rakesh Mohan, the Former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is all set to join the economic research wing of global consultancy firm McKinsey. He had quit the central bank for an assignment at the Stanford University for International Development in the U.S., reports Mint.
Aged 61 years old, Mohan will be a global adviser at the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI). Confirming the development, McKinsey said, "He will join the McKinsey Global Institute as a part-time global adviser starting this autumn."
At RBI, Mohan was in charge of monetary policy, financial markets, economic research and statistics, secretary's department and communication. Mohan's assignment at Stanford was for six months, which began from 15th June, and it is still unknown whether he will cut short his period of work.
As the global adviser, Mohan has joined a list of prominent academics providing insights and perspectives on a range of MGI research projects. Martin Baily, a Senior Fellow at the Institute of International Economics who headed former U.S. President Bill Clinton's council of economic advisers, is currently an MGI senior adviser. Other academic advisers on recent projects include Richard Freeman of Harvard University and Olivier Blanchard, Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund, on offshoring research, and Richard Cooper and Kenneth Rogoff, both of Harvard, on capital markets work.
