Mumbai: R K Upadhyay has taken over as the Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, the largest telecom operator in the country effective from April 30, a company statement said here. Rakesh Kumar Upadhyay is an officer of 1975 Batch of Indian Telecom Services. He obtained B Tech (Electronics) Degree from IT. He has successfully worked in Department of Telecommunications in the areas of Planning, Installation and Commissioning, Commercial administration and operations. He was the CMD of TCIL, which falls under Department of Telecommunications. Commenting on his joining, Upadhyay said "A great challenge lies ahead of us and I am sure we will meet every challenge with determination".
