Bangalore: PurpleLeap, an entry level talent management company, is venturing in the robotics education in the country. For this initiative, the company has teamed up with Robhatah, a Singapore-based robotics education firm to offer specialized courses to engineering colleges in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
Robotics is still at a nascent stage in India and PurpleLeap, along with Robhatah, aim to spread the growing field, which worldwide is a $100 billion industry. Robotics is an interdisciplinary subject and the industry has an annual growth of 40-50 percent.
The robotics education initiative will reach out to 1500 students in 30 colleges, across 12 states, including Tamilnadu, Rajasthan, Haryana and others. PurpleLeap will set up the labs required for the course, which will cost the students an affordable
10,000.
The course will comprise training in a hybrid learning fashion. This would include VSAT learning, online and onsite.
The Robotics program is spread into two levels - basic and expert. The former is called the Robologics the duration of which is 40 hours. It introduces students to various concepts like Microcontrollers, Electrical circuits, sensors, motors, gears and embedded programming. The basic level will enable the student to design, build and control a robot.
The next level, Roboxpert, is a specialization course spanning 80 hours. This can be completed over a time of two semesters.
Amit Bansal, CEO, PurpleLeap, speaking on the occasion said, "Robotics in India is still at a nascent stage. Since the adoption rates are low here, it creates a huge potential for the field to grow. Robotics is the industry of the future and in the coming decade will fuel the economy strongly."
