Post-Budget Reaction To Job Market In India 2015

BANGALORE: According to Kamal Karanth, MD, Kelly Services & OCG India, “The 2015 union budget has been both progressive and reformative and has surely given India a chance to soar high. While in 2014, we saw the budget signaling towards big bang reforms, this time the government has made prudent steps in all relevant directions to re-establish the economy’s credibility. The budget gave a definite roadmap to realize the ‘Make In Campaign’ by announcing a lot of schemes and fund allocation for skill development and job creation. In addition to laying emphasis on creating employment opportunities for young Indians, it has adequately touched upon creation of jobs for the rural population & minorities. Launching of the National Skill Development Mission will help address the issue of skill gap that have persisted long in our country further balancing the demand and supply of talent.  As, start- ups continue to be one of the top priorities for promoting entrepreneurship in India, the government has set aside 1,000 crore  to build a mechanism like SETU (Self-Employment and Talent Utilization) that will cover all aspects of start-up businesses including self-employment. Further, regarding rural employment, the allocation of 34, 600 crore towards the MGNREGA programme will fuel in more employment and growth opportunities by utilizing abundant skills that is available in the country. The setting up of AIIMS, IIT’s and IT hubs across several states will help address the huge demand for IT jobs in India. We also see that the increased investment in sectors such as manufacturing in Auto and defense equipment will open job avenues and steer economic growth & overall development.”
