PJ Naik to head Morgan Stanley India

Mumbai: Global financial services major Morgan Stanley announced the appointment of former Axis Bank Chairman PJ Naik as its new Country Head and Chief Executive for India. The appointment is a part of Morgan Stanley's continuous expansion in the country and further investment in its operations here, the company said, adding Nayak will assume the new job on April 5 and will be based in Mumbai.
Nayak, who was instrumental in the fast paced growth of Axis Bank, served as its Chairman and Chief executive from January 2000 to April 2009. At present, he is an Operating Partner at Advent International Private Equity and Non-Executive Chairman of Motilal Oswal Asset Management Company. In 2009, Nayak became a member of the RBI's technical advisory committee for monetary policy.
"The firm will also benefit from his senior relationships in India and his government experience," said Owen Thomas, Chief Executive of Morgan Stanley Asia. Morgan Stanley operates from more than 1,200 offices in 37 countries.
