Only One in Five MBA Grads Get a Job: Survey
Bangalore: Finding a job is not easy as joining in B-school. Many of the MBA grads are finding it difficult to land a job in the market today. A recent study by an MBA education blog and a testing agency reveals that, only one in five MBA grads are employable, TNN reports.
Conducted in tier-2 management institutions, the survey draws attention to the classroom teaching which needs to be corrected in terms of the teaching method.
Including IIMs, top 25 management institutes are not covered in the survey, which conducted in 29 Indian cities and among 2,264 candidates. Students are tested in verbal ability, quantitative ability and reasoning skills in this pre-recruitment survey and are reportedly obtained an average percent of 52.58 percent, 41.17 percent and 37.51 percent respectively.
Skills in deductive logic, data sufficiency, spatial reasoning, and analytical reasoning are considered as the fundamentals of management decision and are the basics of reasoning test. The given result demands a closer evaluation on the teaching method.
A similar survey had taken place in 2007 which exposed an employability index at 25 percent. In 2006- 2007, the B-schools in India were approximately 94,704 in number and today, it has risen four times to 3.5 lakh colleges as of 2011-2012.
