Only 10 Percent Of Indian MBA Graduates Are Employable
BENGALURU: Pursuing a management degree has become a craze among the students and it’s a promising one too. But the bad news is, though the IIMs are producing thousands of MBA graduates every year, only 10 percent of them are eligible of being employed. This rate has declined in comparison to the survey done for the number of students eligible to work in the sectors ranging from marketing to finance.
Every year more than 3, 00, 000 students come out with MBAs while the companies need only 35, 000 to 40, 000, but still they are not getting enough candidate to fulfill their vacancy.
Kumar who specializes in finance hopelessly expressed that he was mistaken to think that doing an MBA was sufficient and would guarantee a job. Kumar is now helping his father with his family business.
Most of the MBA aspirants prefer doing their MBA from IIM Bangalore, Ahmadabad or Kolkata. There are 3, 364 more B-schools, but students who passed out from here go through a rough patch while getting a job.
Half of the MBA students who are considered as unemployable and lack knowledge of the key industry terms related to their specialized areas, a report says. On other hand, one third of the students are weak in basic English grammar skills and communication.
Except for few major business schools, most of the institutes teaching business and management do not test their students on the basis of their verbal and written skills. This process hampers the grads later on in life.
A candidate lacking an in-depth knowledge and understanding of his specialized area lags behind in the race to reach the top. Mukherjee, head of the equity division at Mumbai financial services suggested including industry specific skills and vocational training in the Indian business schools.
