Nomura names Birendra Agarwal as MD and CIO

Bangalore: Nomura, an Asia-based investment bank has named Birendra Agarwal as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Nomura Services, India. At Nomura Services, he will be responsible for managing the technology support across global business units such as equities, fixed income and investment banking. Birendra brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in managing information technology for financial services in the U.S. and UK. He has undertaken diverse roles ranging from strategic technology planning, application development, architecture, engineering and operations. Birendra will be based in Mumbai and will report globally to Simon Lucocq, Global and Asia Pacific Wholesale CIO and locally to R. K. Rangan, President and CEO of Nomura Services, India. Rangan said, "It gives us immense pleasure to welcome Birendra to Nomura. His experience and extensive domain knowledge will be instrumental to the success of many strategic and transformational IT programs being managed from Powai." Prior to joining Nomura, Birendra was managing Envision Consultants, an outsourcing and offshore advisory firm. Before that, he was Managing Director and co-CIO, Global Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities at Citigroup, where he was responsible for building the technology division across various financial verticals. He holds a B.Tech Degree from IIT, Mumbai and an M.S. from the University of Kentucky.
