No Indian Cos among Top 25 MNC to Work with

BANGALORE: Despite the improving work culture in Indian companies, the nation has a long way to go before making it big on the global map. A study carried out by the Great Places to Work Institute did not feature a single Indian company in the top 25 list of World's Best Multinational Workplaces 2015, reports ET.

The fifth edition of the survey enlisted Google, EMC, Microsoft, NetApp, Monsanto and American Express on the top positions. Although India couldn’t make it to the list, the top multinationals own a substantial presence in the Indian market. The survey included 6641 companies across 685 multinationals and 12 million employees globally.

"While many of the organizations in this list are also great workplaces in India, no Indian MNC has made it to this list yet," said Prasenjit Bhattacharya, India CEO, Great Place to Work Institute.

The criteria to be fulfilled by organizations to make their presence in the list includes the 40 pct of the employee working in the company should not belong to the home country. Indian MNCs are in a need of overcoming the employee cost arbitrage phenomenon and focus on building an employee brand for international exposure.

The survey ranked countries where it spotted a clear link between the degree of great working environment and their financial performance.

Google yet again topped the list for the third time in a row making itself the best employer for engineering and business students across the world and providing a great workplace culture and financial performance.

According to employees, the traits of a great workplace not only includes fun factor at work but also should comprise of a team spirit, cooperation between co-workers and despite the position they should be treated as the full member.  Apart from this, factors like competent management, availability of resources and job requirements, safety at workplace and leave policies also come to play while ranking these companies.

The 'Trust Index' parameter of the survey judges the feelings of the employees in respect to their workplace. In addition to this, Pride in the workplace played an important role in the survey where employees were asked to share about what they perceive of their companies as a whole.
