Most Companies Plan to Recruit Fresh MBAs in 2012: GMAC Survey

Bangalore: A 7 percent increase in the number of companies hiring fresh MBA graduates in 2012, according to the Global Management Education Graduate survey, reports "The Economic Times".

The survey which was conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), highlighted that more organizations plan to recruit fresh MBA and Master of Accounting graduates in 2012 than they did last year in 2011. According to the survey, companies that were surveyed, claimed that they plan to hire recent MBA graduates this year, compared to 72 percent last year.

The Global Management Education Graduate survey was carried on between mid February to mid March 2012, involved 1096 recruiters, 128 business schools and 800 companies across the world. It is reported that Airtel India, India Infoline, ISB Hyderabad, IIFT, Delhi, and SP Jain Institute of Management Research are amongst the Indian companies and business schools who participated in the survey.

Around 62 percent of the fresh MBA participants in the survey claimed that they had a job offer which is 54 percent up from last year (2011), moreover the survey also highlights that there is an increase in the planned number of new hires per organization increasing to 17 in 2012 from 13 last year.

As compared to 2011, this year the proportion of companies intending to hire recent MBA graduates is expected to rise by 22 percent particularly in the technology sector. Coming to the nonprofit and the government sector , the percentage of companies planning to recruit other specialized masters in business graduates and masters in management graduates increased by 64 percent and 52 percent respectively.

In the Asia Pacific region the maximum increase in the percentage of companies hiring Master of Accounting graduates has increased by 54 percent in 2012 from 38 percent in 2011. On the other hand 35 percent of European companies have claimed a drop in demand of these graduates.
