The Institute was founded in 1997 as a philanthropic initiative by one of the leading educational societies of the region, City Educational & Social Welfare Society (CESWS). The founder chairman, Late Shri Chandra Sen Agrawal was a leading educationist of his time and spent his entire life in the service of community in the field of education .In the age of IT revolution and globalization where industry is the corner stone of prosperity of a nation , he was able to foresee the need to equip the young men and women, with the technical knowledge for the new millennium, hence established the Meerut Institute of Engineering & Technology(MIET) Our Mission at MIET is: To educate human resources, competent and skilled in various technical fields, to fulfill global requirements by providing sustainable quality education, training & an envigorating environment to young aspirants and moulding them into socially responsible citizens who will lead the building of a powerful nation. The Institute MIET, located in the National Capital Region, is one of the oldest self-financed Engineering Institutions in Uttar Pradesh and also one of the best. Like a true leader, it has taken several initiatives in the field of technical education that are being followed by other Institutions across the state now. MIET was the first to introduce Information Technology and Bio-Technology as B.Tech. courses, demonstrating its farsightedness on the technological needs of the Nation. MIET has an intensive academic environment that brings out the best in the students. It lays claim to the finest faculty in the region, offers the best laboratory infrastructure, excellent hostels and mess facilities and promotes several extra-curricular activities. It also has the well stocked library in the state with over 56,023 volumes and subscribes to a number of journals of National and International importance. Chairman: Er. Vishnu Saran was awarded his Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kurukshetra University in 1971. Thereafter, he served the Government of Uttar Pradesh for several years. He was the Director of Boilers, UP. His wide-ranging personal and professional contacts in numerous industries are a boon to MIET students for their training and placements Dean (Academic): Shri. Sanjeev Maheshwari, Prof and Dean Academics has done his graduation (BE) from Shivagi University and post graduation (ME) from Government Engineering College, Aurangabad. He has more than 18 years of teaching experience. He has organized various projects exhibitions and state level e-commerce seminars. Apart from this he has actively participated in various workshops like, Fiber Optic in Mumbai, Laser and its Applications CEDT, Aurangabad. Apart from an excellent academician he is also known for his strict administration. He has thrice worked as central superintendent, MIET, Meerut. He had been a member of Board of Studies BAMU, Aurangabad. He has headed the chair for TECHNOPTICA (State Level Conference) . He is a life member of Indian Society for Technical Education ISTE, New Delhi and also worked as honorary treasurer for ISTE Chapter, Aurangabad.
