Karnataka-Highest Job Creator with 24 Pct Contribution

BENGALURU: The latest study conducted by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) notes Karnataka to be India’s highest job creator state. The findings stated that the southern-India state has contributed over 24 percent share in the job industry, during the fourth quarter of the last fiscal year (financial year 2015-16). Next in the list includes Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu ranking as the second and third highest state as job creator, accounting for a share of about 23 percent and 10.5 percent respectively, states the ASSOCHAM study.

The report further revealed that Information technology (IT) industry created approximately around 57 percent, delivering almost 9 lakh job openings, recorded between January-March, 2016. Considering Karnataka’s IT sector, the study states that it accounts for over 65 percent share in job openings, followed by services contributing 16 percent, manufacturing accounting for 8 percent, BFSI--6 percent, and construction and real estate sector adding up to the share of with about 2.5 percent only.

The ASSOCHAM Economic Research Bureau (AERB) brought about the report by analyzing the data sourced ranging from the vacancies posted by companies across various job portals, to all the advertisements published in national and regional dailies about the employment opportunities. Doing so, the finding showed that Karnataka had recorded around 2.16 lakh job openings, followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region.

Leading in terms of IT job openings, Karnataka stands second considering the jobs in the service sector accounting for the share of about 21 percent after Maharashtra. Likewise, considering the manufacturing sector, BFSI, and construction and real estate, Karnataka accounts for about 19 percent, 18 per cent, and 17 percent job openings share respectively, reports the study.
