Kanpur IITian Tops The Civil Services Examination 2013

BANGALORE: Twenty-nine-year-old Gaurav Agrawal, resident of Maharani Farms in Jaipur has created history by becoming the first person from Rajasthan to top the IAS examination. Not just this, he is also the first male after four long years to top the IAS examination 2013.

Delhi-based Munish Sharma has got second position whereas 24-year-old Rachit Raj, who hails from Daltonganj in Jharkhand, secured third position.

Hailing from an upper middle class family, Gaurav always excelled in studies. He secured 45th all Indian rank in IIT when he was just 16 and got into IIT-Kanpur. After completing his B.Tech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Kanpur, he appeared for CAT at the age of 21 and scored 99.94 percent. He secured a gold medal in his Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from Indian Institute of Management (IIM)–Lucknow. Until 2013 before he appeared for the IAS exam for the first time, he worked as an investment banker with Citi Group in Hong Kong for four years.
