Is Work Place Discipline In India Resulting In Low Productivity?

BENGALURU: Employee discipline in the workplace is a touchy subject. In a country like India managing time is a big ask and time management is something that most of them struggle with. But not all.  If we dig deep and look into all the matters we might find answers to whether ‘Workplace Discipline’ is a Myth or not, but let’s look into few important reasons, as reported by India Today.

Although it’s hard to say that Indian workplaces are still following old traditions and the barrier between employer and employee is very high, there are still many organizations that are yet to follow an automated timekeeping or attendance system to monitor employees. Lack of such systems encourage workers to bend the rules, resulting in low productivity.

Following this situation very often than not employees are unaware of the consequences of their actions and hence we witness several cases of wrong behavior at the workplace. This is because action taken is rarely prompt, resulting in a long drawn and complicated process, which encourages deviation from rules.

This might make you think why is this happening? Well, it isn't just the careless processes or irresponsible time management from the employees, but a lot of it stems down to the basics of developing work discipline. Since we see more women enter the workforce, it’s particularly important for organizations foster a culture of integrity, learning, excellence, as well as make jobs worth the discipline for the employees, or else ‘Workplace Discipline’ might just remain as a process without any implementation.
