Ahmedabad: Politics becoming the upcoming area of interest was highlighted throughout the nation when an IIM student proposed to intern with the Sikkim MP. A PGP-1 student of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad has basically followed the footsteps of Chepury Krishna of the same institution who had studied the CPI (M) from the Member of Parliament, Sitaram Yechury. The student plans to intern with the MP from Sikkim Democratic front which is a regional political party from Sikkim.
An IIMA alumnus P.D.Rai who is also an MP, while talking to Times of India responded in an extremely positive note saying students interning with MPs is not something new as many of them from across the country have sought to undergo the process. I am happy that these young students are now starting to take interest in politics. We need more of these young and good brains to enter politics."
When questioned about the relation between students and political parties and how much do they both benefit through such internships, Mr. Rai had added saying "While the political party gets an extra hand for research, the students in return learn how pubic policies are framed, about the parliamentary process and so on."
The placements at IIMA are divided in four clusters and the placement during this year summer recorded more than 30 companies from sectors including media, FMCG, Telecom, Pharma, Apparels, Advertising, IT, Automobiles, Banking and consulting took part in Cluster3. While there were companies like Renault providing students with international roles, recruiters like Britannia, Heinz, Marico, Airtel and Aircel offered sales and marketing responsibilities.
Cluster 3 witnesses the first time participation of companies for recruitment like Ogilvy and amp; Mather, S.Kumar's Group, Arvind's brands, Onicra, and so on.
IIMA summer placements continue with Clusters 1 and 2 placing 100 students each day and cluster3 following their footsteps, the participation of several startups, financial services and general management domains are present in Cluster 4 that has already begun.
