Interdisciplinary approach required in IT sector: Infy CEO

Thiruvanthupuram: The present IT sector recruitment is elevated to induce professionals with having multiple vertical skills according to Kris Gopalakrishnan, CEO and MD of Infosys. Corroborating his recruitment programme he said to a media ,"We have made 25,000 offers in campuses this financial year, and our plans for the coming year will be disclosed in April." Being chairman of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Kerala(IIIMK) he urged upon being driven that IIITM-K need to be restructured. This can be made by setting up a residential campus of 10 acre area at the Technocity campus which will focus on high power computing and information system management. The broader dimension of the Technocity campus will host maximum number of students. The student capacity would increase from 120 postgraduate students to 700 students pursuing Masters, M Phil and PhD programmes. Elizabeth Sherly, Director-In-Charge of IIITM-K said the academic courses designed are in par with the research and industry norms. Stressing more on the need of interdisciplinary education Sherlly said students can be tuned to diverse contextual requirements. And to fulfill the endeavor it is necessary for restructuring the institute, the institute is about to forego changes and shape in terms of bringing up with schools for computer science and engineering, computational science, informatics, humanities and social sciences.
