Bangalore: Intel, in association with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sagathan (KVS) and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), felicitated various schools, teachers and students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in ICT integration in school curriculum. Kapil Sibal, Union Minister, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India felicitated eight schools, eight teachers, twelve students and six regions across India to acknowledge innovative teaching-learning practices adopted by them. Winners across cites like Lucknow, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Pune were awarded. The objective of the event was to equip and empower the school teachers and students with techniques in developing 21st century skills to prepare them to face the challenges of tomorrow. To inspire teachers and students across the country, Intel organized a Joint Contest to recognize innovative teaching-learning practices adopted by various regions, schools, teachers and students of KVS and NVS. More than 3500 registrations were received and after a 3 stage evaluation of the digital projects, the winners were announced. "Increasing access to technology can be a critical driver of economic growth, but it requires government and industry leaders like Intel to work together to make it happen. This program showcases the impact of effective technology integration in schools and creates the right environment for innovation" said Kapil. Classmate PCs were awarded to students for making effective use of technology in their projects. Netbooks were given away to teachers for incorporating ICT tools in their teaching, while schools which incorporated Technology Aided Learning (TAL) in their school curriculum and regions which received maximum participation in the contest were awarded digital photo frames.
