Intel To Cut Short Its Workforce By 5 Percent In 2014

Bangalore: Another tech giant has been added to the illustrious list of IT companies planning to cut short its workforce this year. This time it is Intel and the decrease in sales seems to the major culprit that is forcing the renowned PC manufacturer to trim its employee count by about 5 percent, reports Noel Randewich of Reuters.

Intel recently announced that nearly 5,000 employees would lose their job this year and the announcement comes just a day after the company revealed its fourth-quarter earnings report.

In the words of company’s spokesman Chris Kraeuter, "This is part of aligning our human resources to meet business needs."

He added that retirements, voluntary programs and other options have added to the company's typical attrition of 4 percent a year. And he refused to comment about whether the details about of the changes were made public internally.
