Indians Misjudge the Time Required to Manage Career

Bangalore: According to a recent research done by the Cross-Tab which was commissioned by LinkedIn collected responses from 400 professionals and has discovered that around 91 percent of Indian employees think the ideal amount of time invested daily on progressing in their career should be in excess of 30 minutes, reports  Anumeha Chaturvedi on The Economic Times.

This research is in sharp contrast when it is compared to previous findings by LinkedIn which had mentioned that global branding experts had considered that only 9 minutes in a day is enough to manage the individual careers.

When this new survey asked the respondents about the career management on a daily basis, 52 percent of surveyed respondents responded that they would prefer spending their quality time with their mentor, whereas 44 percent responded that they would rather use that time on the professional networking sites. About 80 percent of the professionals said that they would dedicate their quality time to professional networking sites to share their skills, stay connected with their clients and keep the updates about the latest trends in their sector.

The survey also figured out that it is the men who like to spend more time in developing the career when it is compared to women. Marketing and PR employees are considered to be the top networkers as [28 percent], they are later followed by journalists with 19 percent responding and at the last the bankers and stockbrokers with 17 percent.

According to Hari V Krishnan, the country manager of LinkedIn said that, the present workforce functions in an increasingly demanding environment and it is more significant than ever to take the charge of one’s own career and manage it effectively. He also suggested that the professionals should spend some quality time every day to build their personal brand.
