Indian Managers Are Being Offered Plum Global Projects By Ericsson
BANGALORE: To help the country beat its career growth challenges, Swedish telecom equipment maker Ericsson, is giving out plum global assignments to managers of Indian origin. This process will also help in retaining top talents of the industry and reap competition. An anonymous source from Ericsson told Economic Times, that the company in recent relocated many of its experienced Indian managers abroad in orders to diversify Ericsson’s talent team.
Ajay Sood, the company’s head for the global customer unit in India recently shifted to U.K. to add new dimensions to Ericsson’s s network based services.
Sandeep Gupta also relocated as a part of the company’s commercial management in western and central European operations.
Divya Anand, has been posted to Qatar as head of commercial operations of its global customer unit. She was General manager(pricing) in Ericsson India prior to this.
Sachin Khamboj has been transferred to U.S. as business unit controller for Ericsson clients there.
Jasmeet Singh Sethi also flew to Sweden to modify the consumer behavior planning of the company.
Vice president & HR head of Ericsson India Sameer Khanna puts this new strategy opf the company as, "We are developing a global talent pool that knows Ericsson's systems, products, processes and can work in any geography, and several Indian managers have recently taken on global roles contributing to the larger organization."
Khanna considers this talent management strategy of the company as a motivation for its employees to get opportunity to work on a global platform, rather than a mere employee retention method.
According to Khanna, currently Ericcson’s 18pct work force is Indian. He considers an approximate count of 1.15 lakh Indians in the employee force of the company.
He also guarantees that these initiatives of the company will have a positive contribution to the "low attrition rates" in India .
Ericsson is known for a revenue jump of 85pct in the quarter end of July, 2014. The company is recognized for its rising mobile data traffic.
