Indian IT firm employees return from Japan

Bangalore: After Japan's biggest crisis, Indian IT companies are bringing back their employees with the fear of a nuclear meltdown after the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and the devastating tsunami.
IT giants,like TCS, Infosys Technologies and Wipro, have offered their employees the option of returning home while allowing local workers to shift to safe locations. These companies have around 700 Indians working in Japan. TCS has over 200 people in Japan, Infosys has 250 and Wipro has 400 professionals working in Japan.
Infosys advised its Indian employees to return back to India with their families. MindTree said it was continuously monitoring the situation and has set up a war room for the purpose, besides initiating process of evacuation of families from the disaster-struck country.
Saurabh Govil, Senior Vice-President, Human Resources, Wipro Technologies said,"We are giving the option to families of employees to return to India and we will facilitate the same. Many of our customers are back in operation and we are using options like working from home and gearing up our offshore support to ensure business continuity."
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) said,"We are in close touch with our team in Japan around the clock. We are ready to relocate our Indian employees and their families back to India as well as move our local Japanese employees and their families to other locations of safety. We are also engaged with customers to see how they can be supported."
