Indian Companies to Hike Manpower in April-June Quarter
BENGALURU: Indian employers are expected to increase their manpower in the April-June quarter. According to a survey by the human resource consulting firm based in the U.S., India leads the employment outlook for the third consecutive quarter reports Sreeradha D Basu for ET Bureau.
About 48 percent of employers in India expected to recruit in the first quarter of 2016-17. With variations considered, the net employment outlook stands at 38 percent representing a decline from that of January-March quarter which was at 42 percent, based on responses of 5,065 Indian employers.
Among the 41 countries surveyed, India’s Make in India programme and entrepreneurship gives it a stronger position. With 43 percent net employment, the manufacturing sector employers are expected to have the highest workforce as compared to 40 percent by services sector and 38 percent by the mining and construction sector.
The wholesale and trade sector comes next with a net employment outlook of 35 percent while finance, insurance, real estate, public administration and education stand at 30 percent. The transportation and utilities sector stands at 28 percent. Southern part of the country is anticipated to have the strongest labour market with an outlook of 42 percent followed by the west and east at 39 percent and north at 31 percent. The survey reports modest hiring intentions from other countries and territories.
