India Tops with Most Telecommuters

Bangalore: Telecommuting has gained increased attention across the world in the recent days. People are commuting with others from their home, cars, buses etc on a regular basis. However this physical change has turned out to be a challenge in terms of energy conservation, family values and other related issues.

In a recent survey conducted by Global Research Company IPSOS for Reuters News has found that India being a developing country topped the list with around 56 percent of telecommuters in the country. Moving on, around one in five employees have the access of connecting online to their workplace. These employees who have the access of telecommuting, have reported that they telecommute with their workplace on a regular basis and about 7 percent of the employees reported that they work from home every day, as their home is far from their office and another 10 percent f the employees told that they work from home on a very constant basis like on evenings and during weekends.

You may have thought till today that it is all the developed countries which had more number of telecommuters, but in that survey of IPSOS which had conducted the survey on 11,383 employees with internet connections from 24 countries, released a surprising report that, it is the Middle East countries with 27 percent telecommuters, Latin American countries with 25 percent and Asia Pacific countries with 24 percent had more number of telecommuters.  The report also mentioned that in the North American and European countries there were just 9 percent of employees who telecommute on a daily basis.
