India's jobless rate is 9.4 percent: Survey

Bangalore: In a first from the government's end, a survey done on the nation's labor market has thrown up reports on India's jobless rate, which was recorded to be 9.4 percent in the fiscal ended in March 2010.
The jobless rate was higher in the villages at 10.1 percent while in the urban areas it was pegged at 7.3 percent. The survey results also added that only 163 of 1,000 employed have access to social security benefits.
According to the labor ministry, the respondents of the survey were aged between 15 and 59 and covered 45,859 households across 300 districts.
