India Inc Brings in Live Projects to Campuses, Snapdeal Sets Up 'Stratethon'
BANGALORE; Although it seems fairly ahead of its times before B-schools progress into the live projects, pledges of funding startup ideas, strategic competitions and recruitment stage, Top recruiters in India Inc have already barged in to discover talent, reports ET
In October ecommerce giants Snapdeal held a competition called the Stratethon' in which 13 top B-schools which includes XLRI, MDI Gurgaon, IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Kolkata to discover and keep new talents engaged on campuses. The competition brought over participation of over 550 teams having a team of three-four members each. Students were given online quizzes, simulation games along with a 12-hour live case study in which Snapdeal assigned mentors to tutor them.
Saurabh Nigam, vice-president, HR, at Snapdeal, “Stratethon help us engage with students in a more informal way and expose them to Snapdeal's vision and work culture. Going forward, we will use this engagement programme as a key driver to hire the right talent from campuses.”
This year the RPG group extended its competition 'Blizzard' to fresher’s (first year students) and inquired for newer business ideas.
Hindustan Unilever Ltd, which previously held the trendy competition 'LIME' (Lessons in Marketing Excellence), introduced 'Carpe Diem' in 2014 which brought in first-year students as well. With this students can easily work with HUL as well as get an opportunity to wear summer intern for Unilever offices situated around the globe.
A spokesperson for HUL said, "Students have to find solutions to an actual marketing problem while working with a brand manager in HUL on a live marketing project. This offers students a rich learning opportunity and insights into the FMCG industry."
