India Hits in Freelancing Job Market

Another job market place, oDesk.com reveals almost the same story while India holds the second place in their website after Philippines. Since 2008, business from India has grown eight times revealing that in the first quarter of 2012, 20-30 percent of the payments received by Indians of more than $78 million earned on it, the largest recipient of the oDesk today.

Projects posted by many companies across the world seeking for independent contractors point out those companies today prefer for freelancers than hiring an employee. While slowdown and uncertainties swings in U.S. and in European economies, MNCs are seemingly not interested to hire full-time employees. It will boost the growth of freelancing job market.

To get their one-off projects completed, some reach out to freelancers through these online portals where as some companies are looking for a temp hiring due to the over staff shortages.  

"The opportunities are unlimited. All work that can be done in front of the computer can move online,” Gary Swart, CEO, oDesk.com said. He had also opined that almost one-third of the global workforce may recruit online by 2020.
