IIT-Bombay Remains IIT-JEE Toppers First Choice

BANGALORE: In what is being seen as an interesting development, it is observed that most of the toppers in this year’s IIT-JEE have opted for Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. With this the institute has also retained its position as the most favored choice, as 58 of the top 100 rankers in JEE have joined IIT-B, reports TNN.

Apparently, the reason for choosing IIT-Bombay happens to be the importance given to streams, food, placement record, location and influence of the coaching classes. Even though the choice of the toppers has always been IIT-Kanpur over the past few years, this year IIT-B has bagged the lion’s share of the top ranker’s seats.

Out of the top 100 rankers in JEE-Advanced 2014, almost all have opted for IIT-B computer science stream as their first choice. And among them 58 were allotted seats at IIT-B for computer science specialization in the first round, followed by Delhi with 36 of the top 100 were been admitted.

While 58 of the top 100 rankers joined IIT-B, the seat share of the institution fell short as compared to 67 in 2013. But IIT-D with 36 seats saw a rise as opposed to last year's 29.
