IIT Placements: A Lucknow Boy Bags 1.8 Cr Job With Google

 BANGALORE :Lucknow boy Ashutosh Agarwal a final-year computer science student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, secured an off campus placement with an annual package of Rs 1.80 crore at Google Inc, reports TOI.

 

 

The 21 year old who is the son of entrepreneur parents is currently pursuing his 7th semester.  Earlier this year, he has completed a three-month internship at Google New York and was faced with several rigorous rounds of interviews which includes telephonic before getting placed by Google. Once he completes his engineering, he is expected to join Google in one of the North American states.

Ashutosh cited that the experience from from Google Summer of Code (GSoC) to Google Inc had been incredible."I had a great experience working there as an intern and the job offer is a dream come true. But this is certainly not the end, not the destination. I am very young and have a long way to go,''  he added. Ashutosh's achievement has created immense happiness to his father Gopal Krishna Agarwal and mother Alka Agarwal. Before his internship, Ashutosh was faced with another shift at Google; he was at the end of his 4th semester during that time.

“Fortunately, I got opportunity at GSoC, a global programme that offers students stipends to write code for open source projects. For three months, I worked from home and added a new feature to an existing programming framework,'' he cited.

Within a few days of completing the GSoC, Ashutosh got the job offer. "During our conversation, Google found I am not a graduate and they can't offer me a job right away. So they offered me internship this year and I went to New York. My work was related to interactive media ads,'' said Ashutosh.

After  just a few days of finishing the GSoC, Ashutosh received was offered the job. However, when Google learned that he was not yet a graduate, they took back the offer and presented him with an internship for the meantime until he finished engineering.
