IIMs Evade Poor; Becomes Costlier
The impending difficulties in generating funds are viewed as the major reason behind this hike. The B-school does not garner any financial aid from its guardian body, i.e. the Ministry of Human Resources Development, and entirely relies on the funds from corporate projects that is brought in by the faculty members. In a desperate move to boost the earnings, the staff of IIM-C has even started teaching on the satellite mode.
The proposal to hike tuition fee is likely to be tabled at the next board meeting, which is scheduled to be held in December. It has to be first agreed upon by the admissions chair, then will be moved for debate at the faculty council, and finally will be sent to the board for approval. As per the sources within the institute, if the proposal is not tabled in the December board meeting, it will certainly be placed in the first meeting of the board in January next year.
