IBM hosts SmartCamp for entrepreneurs

New Delhi: Technology giant IBM announced ConnectM as the winner of IBM SmartCamp Bangalore 2011, a networking and mentoring event for entrepreneurs in India. ConnectM creates technology to link analytics to provide business intelligence for telecommunications, utilities and transportation industries, among others. The Indian edition of the global event was held in Bangalore on April 27. The event has been held in the US, the UK, Spain, Israel, Brazil, China and Turkey. "These initiatives help IBM to work on tackling some of the world's most pressing issues like water, transportation, healthcare and the environment that impact the way people live and work," IBM Vice President of ISV and Developer Relations Mike Riegel said. The programme, which is a part of the IBM Global Entrepreneur initiative, brings together entrepreneurs, investors and mentors to help build a smarter planet, he added. ConnectM will now compete with other global firms for the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year award.
