Bangalore: Ravi Swaminathan, Hewlett Packard's (HP) Personal Systems Group (PSG) President, has decided to quit the company after working for 15 years with Compaq and then with HP. Swaminathan's responsibilities covered consumer and commercial PCs, laptops, workstations and emerging range of personal access devices including handhelds. He will continue his work in the company till November 1. Swaminathan conveyed his decision via an email to his colleagues after consulting with Chin Teik, Vice President, PSG division, APAC. As a next career move, Swaminathan is reviewing multiple options within and outside the IT industry and might open a consultancy firm of his own, as he has not taken a final decision. HP is yet to name his successor. Swaminathan is highly respected among HP's channel partners for his business skills and leadership capabilities. He is considered to have played an important role in the growth of IT industry in India and thus resulting in HP becoming a leader in the PC market in the country. He was also the Vice President of MAIT (Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology). Ravi Aggarwal, President, Imaging and Printing Group, HP India is appointed for the position at MAIT.
