Hiring index registers positive growth

Bangalore: With Information technology and real estate sectors hiring more people, recruitment activities improved across the country in September, according to online job portal Monster India. A considerable increase in the employment index of Monster India suggests that 21 of the 27 industry sectors exhibited positive month-on-month growth trends. It is also a four percent increase compared to august. "The longer-term trends in the Index continue to track the country's economic expansion, with a rise in hiring for sectors like IT, ITES, Engineering, Construction, Iron and Steel; Healthcare, Automotive suggesting continued strength in business activity," said Sanjay Modi, MD Monster India. While the real estate sector led the industry sectors in monthly six-month growth with 17 and 83 percent, online jobs in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, bio technology and life sciences rebounded. Realty sector too saw good hiring activities along with last month’s favorites IT and customer services. However, job opportunities in the banking, finance and insurance sector contracted by an additional nine percent in September over the August levels. As many as 12 of the 13 cities covered in the report witnessed increased online job opportunities increase with Chennai proving to be the best metropolitan market. Job market in Bangalore also exhibited sizeable improvement, growing seven percent over the previous month.
