With the potential growth of the company Mark Zuckerberg has grown from coder to curator. In fact, he has demanded a supply of engineers who are not only smart programmers but also acquire Facebook’s hacker ethos.
So how do you land yourself a job in facebook? Well, to reach out to students, Facebook has set up online programming puzzles which are also evaluated online. If someone passes the online puzzle test, then he is called for an interview.
The first step of interview is of 45 minutes telephonic interview mainly including coding problems. At the end of the interview, the interviewee can ask a few questions regarding the job if he/she wants to.
With a green signal shown, the candidate is called upon to California to meet the hiring managers where he must go through four round of interviews with a break in the middle. The media giant even shows some kindness by offering a day’s time, before the interview, to the candidates who fly from a distant place, in order to rest. It is highly recommended that the candidate should utilize that time resting, so that they can attend the interview in a fresh mind.
Two of the interviews should be on coding and algorithms. They will provide you with problems that require taking common programming structure and combine together to solve a single problem. The problems are little formulated but match definitely with the problems one meets on daily basis.
The next interview focuses on work philosophy and has problems that are a bit tough. Facebook confirms again and again that the candidate they are appointing has to have the urge to improve and learn from the past.
And the final round focuses on system design. The interviewer wants to see if the candidate is eligible of taking upon a complicated problem and then break into pieces. These questions vary from one position to another. The interviewee just has to convince the hiring managers, that it would be a great loss on their part not to appoint such an efficient worker.
