Bangalore: There were engineering students, professors and professionals who travelled all the way from different parts of South India to attend the SiliconIndia Android Conference, which had around 220 delegates, attended it.
The whole atmosphere was knowledge sharing filled with enthusiasm and queries. There was plenty of time to interact and to clear their industry related doubts with the eminent speakers and panelists during coffee break. There were two booths that of Macgraw Hill Education which was selling books on android and other technology related stuff and of Rail Detectives which did promote a new technology.
Rakesh Verma, Director, Nav Innovations was the first speaker who talked extensively about the android fundamentals. He said Android is nothing but a set of software for mobile devices that includes the operating system, middleware and key applications. It started with Google as Google purchased Android in 2005 and therefore Android is a Google creation.
The second part of the speech listed out the advantages of Android highlighting the point that android can run multiple applications at the same time. It keeps information visible on the home screen, has a better application market and provides better notification.
He then spoke on the open source part of it and said android is an open source software stack created for mobile phones and other devices. Also touched on the robust android architecture which included the applications, the framework, libraries, hardware abstraction layer and the Linux kernel. He concluded his talk by covering the android market and said that it is the largest application market when compared to its competitors.
There was a very interactive question time following his talk. G Sonal from Kongu Engineering College, Tamil Nadu opined that the theoretical presentation is not enough for people who are new to Android and suggested that video demonstrations should be developed. Vijayraghavan B, Head of Android INXS Technologies, Chennai answered by saying that "Since there are more people new to android, seminar should be basic."
