Get a job in MNC with help from govt
Bangalore: Have you thought of getting job in an MNC or IT companies through an employment exchange? It's possible, as Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development (KVTSDC) has proposed a venture through which candidates can be employed by private companies too. It is likely to be the first employment exchange to be managed as a public-private partnership. Currently, state governments control employment exchanges. This initiative will be handled by the government which will provide infrastructure, know-how and assist in assessment and training of candidates. The capital and operating costs will be borne by Team Lease, a leading staffing company. In an interview to The Times Of India, Vishnukanth S Chatpalli, Executive Director, KVTSDC said, "Apart from job opportunities in the public sector, candidates will get placed with private companies. This opens up more doors for them." Around 700 private companies are expected to tie up for the exchange and candidates will be assessed for career interest and trained if they're not found to be job-ready. The proposal was made in September 2008. The officials expect to get permission from the labour ministry soon and then start the venture. The programme will cover three exchanges in the first phase and then be extended to other centres as well. The main advantage of the new exchange would be getting a job quickly. On an average, a candidate would have to wait for two years to get a job. However, with private companies pitching in, the waiting time will be reduced to 3-4 weeks. Moreover, as the number of opportunities goes up, job-seekers have a wider choice and queues would move faster. "Free registration can be done by walking in at any of the centres or through the telephone or internet. The candidate would be given an ID through which his resume could be updated regularly," said Neeti Sharma, Vice President, Team Lease.
